Transport Canada recall 2026075 · manufacturer campaign 61 81 26RC

19 February 2026

Transport Canada lists: 5 2024–2026 · 7 2023–2025

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the wiring harness for the air conditioning system may not have been routed properly. As a result, when the cabin air filter is replaced, the wiring could become damaged by contact with the housing cover and cause a short circuit. Note: This recall also affects certain 2025-2026 model year M5 sedan and 2025 model year M5 touring models.

Why it matters

A short circuit can create the risk of a fire.

What the dealer will do

To reduce the safety risk, BMW advises not to use the remote heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) or remote engine start features and not to leave the vehicle unattended with the engine running until the recall repairs have been completed. BMW will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the air conditioning system's electrical wiring harness. The dealer will also ensure that the wiring harness is secured properly.

What is wrong

BMW will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership. For certain vehicles, the dealer will replace the starter-generator and positive battery cable.
