What is wrong

On certain vehicles, a problem with the electric drive motor software could cause the vehicle to enter a fail-safe mode. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the wheels. Note: This problem would cause a warning light to turn on and a warning message to be displayed.

A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

BMW will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to eligible vehicles to update the electric drive motor software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a BMW dealership.

What is wrong

On a small number of vehicles, the combined charging unit (CCU) may not have been assembled correctly. As a result, power from the high-voltage battery could be interrupted while driving. If this happens, the vehicle could stall and lose power to the wheels.

BMW will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the high-voltage battery combined charging unit (CCU).

What is wrong

When using the valet parking mode, a software problem could cause certain warning messages not to appear on the central information display. If this happens, the driver would not be alerted about these specific problems with vehicle components and/or systems. Additionally, it may not be possible to adjust the brightness of the instrument cluster. Canadian regulations require warning lights or messages to display when certain faults are detected. The regulations also require an adjustment for the brightness of the instrument cluster.
