What is wrong

This recall is for certain oil filters sold at BMW Motorrad dealerships as a replacement part for 2008 to 2024 models. This recall affects oil filter part number: 11427721779-04. On certain motorcycles, the oil filter may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, under certain conditions, the filter could loosen and create an oil leak.

Why it matters

An oil leak near the rear tire could affect handling and control of the motorcycle. An oil leak could create a hazard for others. Both issues could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, oil that leaks onto hot components could create a fire risk.

What the dealer will do

BMW Motorrad will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the oil filter.

What is wrong

Certain motorcycles with dealer installed accessory turn signals may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CVMSS) 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. The size of the lens on the accessory turn signals may be too small, and therefore would not meet the requirements of the standard. This could reduce vehicle conspicuity to following and approaching road users, and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will replace the accessory turn signals with factory indicators that meet the requirements of the standard.
