Transport Canada recall 2025350 · manufacturer campaign N242487090

25 June 2025

Transport Canada lists: Silverado 2023–2024 · Sierra 2023–2024

What is wrong

On certain trucks, water could leak into the exterior tailgate switch. As a result, the tailgate could unlatch and open unexpectedly while parked. If this happens, cargo that is not secured could fall out of the truck bed and onto the road when the vehicle is moving. Note: This recall only affects trucks equipped with a power-locking tailgate. This is an expansion of recall N232426400 (Transport Canada recall no. 2024-061).

Why it matters

Cargo that falls from the truck bed could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to replace the exterior tailgate switch. To reduce the safety risk, General Motors recommends that you should inspect the tailgate to ensure it's closed and latched before driving.

Transport Canada lists: Escalade 2021–2024 · Silverado 2021–2024 · Suburban 2021–2024 · Tahoe 2021–2024 · and 3 more

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the connecting rods and/or crankshaft components may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the engine could make abnormal noises and a warning light may turn on. If you continue to drive the vehicle with these symptoms, the engine could fail. Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a 6.2 L V8 gas engine.

Why it matters

An engine failure could cause a sudden loss of power to the wheels and increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to inspect and, if necessary, repair or replace the engine. For vehicles that pass the engine inspection, the dealer will replace the oil with a higher viscosity oil, install a new oil fill cap, replace the oil filter, and add an insert to the owner's manual.
