Powertrain

Transport Canada recall 2021613 · manufacturer campaign R21B4 & R21B5

5 October 2021

Transport Canada lists: QX 60 2014–2017 · Pathfinder 2014–2015

What is wrong

On certain hybrid vehicles, a software error with the hybrid powertrain control module (HPCM) may cause the powertrain to shut down. If this happens, both the engine and electric motor can turn off, and cause a loss of power to the wheels.

Why it matters

A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Nissan will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to reprogram the HPCM.

Transport Canada lists: JX 35 2013 · Q 50 2014–2017 · QX 60 2014–2016 · Altima 2013–2016 · and 8 more

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, a defect in the occupant classification system could allow an adult sitting in the front passenger seat to be classified as a child or an “empty seat”. This would suppress the airbag, which could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

What the dealer will do

For affected Altima, Maxima, Murano, Rogue and Sentra vehicles, dealers will reprogram the airbag control unit and the occupant classification system control unit. For affected Leaf, NV200, Pathfinder, Q50 and JX35/QX60 vehicles, dealers will replace the occupant classification system electronic control unit.
