Transport Canada recall 2025345 · manufacturer campaign RC216

20 June 2025

Transport Canada lists: Niro 2020–2022

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, a problem with the rearview camera could cause the rearview camera image not to display. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the vehicle is reversing.

Why it matters

A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Kia will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the rearview camera.

Transport Canada recall 2025003 · manufacturer campaign SC088

7 January 2025

Transport Canada lists: Niro 2019–2022

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, water could enter the integrated electronic brake (IEB) and cause it to corrode. If this happens, the IEB motor could fail and cause reduced braking. Note: This service campaign only affects certain Niro EV models.

Why it matters

Reduced braking can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Kia will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the integrated electronic brake. The dealer will apply silicone to the IEB bolt hole or replace the IEB, as necessary.

Transport Canada recall 2023423 · manufacturer campaign RS183

1 August 2023

Transport Canada lists: Niro 2017–2022

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, fluid could leak onto the printed circuit board for the hydraulic clutch actuator (HCA). If this happens, the circuit board could short circuit.

Why it matters

A short circuit could create the risk of an engine compartment fire while driving.

What the dealer will do

Kia will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the hydraulic clutch actuator (HCA), and replace it if necessary. The technician will also install a new fuse for the HCA to reduce the risk of a fire.

Transport Canada recall 2022689 · manufacturer campaign RC173

6 December 2022

Transport Canada lists: Niro 2020 · Soul Ev 2020–2021

What is wrong

On certain electric vehicles, the electric power control unit (EPCU) may not be sealed correctly. As a result, coolant could leak inside the EPCU and onto the circuit board. If this happens, the vehicle could suddenly lose power to the wheels.

Why it matters

A sudden loss of power to the wheels may increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Kia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the EPCU for internal coolant leaks. If a leak is detected, the dealer will replace the EPCU.
