Electrical

Transport Canada recall 2022689 · manufacturer campaign RC173

6 December 2022

Transport Canada lists: Niro 2020 · Soul Ev 2020–2021

What is wrong

On certain electric vehicles, the electric power control unit (EPCU) may not be sealed correctly. As a result, coolant could leak inside the EPCU and onto the circuit board. If this happens, the vehicle could suddenly lose power to the wheels.

Why it matters

A sudden loss of power to the wheels may increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Kia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the EPCU for internal coolant leaks. If a leak is detected, the dealer will replace the EPCU.

Transport Canada recall 2020595 · manufacturer campaign RC139

3 December 2020

Transport Canada lists: Soul Ev 2019–2021

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, an abnormal sensor signal to the Integrated Electronic Brake (IEB) system could cause a sudden reduction in braking performance. If this happens, a brake warning light will turn on in the instrument cluster.

Why it matters

Reduced brake performance can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Kia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the Integrated Electronic Brake (IEB) system software.
