Transport Canada recall 2021114 · manufacturer campaign PM971

4 March 2021

Transport Canada lists: Sentra 2016–2019

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the stop lamp switch could fail. If this happens, the brake lights may not turn on when the brakes are applied and it may not be possible to start the engine.

Why it matters

Brake lights that do not work properly could result in road users being confused of the driver's intentions, and increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Nissan will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the stop lamp switch. The dealer will also install a grommet to protect the switch.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the rear view camera system does not return to the default setting when the transmission is shifted to reverse. This could cause a reduction in rear visibility if a driver had previously adjusted the camera display. Canadian regulations require that the rear view image returns to its original setting each time the camera is turned on.

Why it matters

Reduced rear visibility could increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to update the software for the rear view camera.
