Seats And Restraints

Transport Canada recall 2019217 · manufacturer campaign 127

9 May 2019

Transport Canada lists: Kizashi 2010–2013

What is wrong

On certain cars, due to the seating posture/position of the occupant, the occupant classification system (OCS) may not work properly. This could cause the airbag system to turn off the passenger-front airbag even when an adult is seated in the front passenger seat. Note: When the front passenger-front airbag is turned off, the PASS AIR BAG OFF indicator will light.

Why it matters

In a crash where an airbag is required, an airbag that does not deploy could increase the risk of injury for an adult passenger.

What the dealer will do

Suzuki will mail a letter to owners to advise of this problem. A second letter will be sent once a corrective action has been determined.

Airbag

Transport Canada recall 2019129 · manufacturer campaign 126

11 March 2019

Transport Canada lists: Grand 2006–2013 · Kizashi 2010–2013

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the occupant classification system (OCS) may not work properly. This could cause the airbag system not to turn off the airbag when an infant or child is seated in the front passenger seat. This could also cause the passenger seat belt reminder to activate when the seat is empty. Note: This problem only affects vehicles with leather seats.

Why it matters

In a crash, an airbag that deploys in front of an infant or child increases the risk of injury.

What the dealer will do

The company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a Suzuki service provider to have the front passenger seat cushion replaced.

Transport Canada recall 2014578 · manufacturer campaign 108

18 December 2014

Transport Canada lists: Kizashi 2010–2013 · SX 4 2010–2013

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the detent pin within the shift lock structure may have been incorrectly positioned. An incorrectly positioned detent pin in combination with high temperature conditions could allow the transmission shift selector to be moved out of the PARK position without depressing the brake pedal. Depending which gear the driver selects, the vehicle could begin to move forward or backward immediately. This movement could result in property damage, or cause the vehicle to strike a bystander, potentially resulting in injury.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will replace the shift selector assembly with an improved part which incorporates an extended detent pin.

Fuel System

Transport Canada recall 2014320 · manufacturer campaign 106

1 August 2014

Transport Canada lists: Kizashi 2010–2012

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, a particular type of spider may weave a web in the evaporative canister vent line which may cause a restriction in the line. If this occurs, the fuel tank pressure may become excessively negative when the emission control system works to purge the vapors from the canister. As the canister is purged repeatedly during normal operation, the stress on the fuel tank may eventually result in a crack causing a fuel leak. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire causing injury and/or property damage.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will inspect the canister vent line and replace it with a line containing a filter. If a web is found in the old line, the fuel tank will also be replaced
