Transport Canada recall 2019617 · manufacturer campaign SRC R93

11 December 2019

Transport Canada lists: Prius 2019

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, a short circuit could occur in the main display of the combination meter. This could cause the vehicle speed and fuel level to disappear from the main display while driving.

Why it matters

A vehicle that does not display the fuel level could have an increased risk of running out of fuel. If vehicle speed is not displayed, it could result in the vehicle being driven at higher speed than intended. This could increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Toyota will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the combination meter circuit board. It will be replaced if necessary.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, a defect could cause the brake booster pump to fail. This could result in a loss of braking assist. If the failure occurs, the driver will be provided with both visual and audible warnings. It would also cause the Vehicle Stability Control system to turn off.

Why it matters

A loss of braking assist could cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash. A loss of Vehicle Stability Control would cause the vehicle to not meet the requirements of Canadian regulations, and could increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect, and if necessary, replace the brake booster pump.
