What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the rod that connects the brake pedal to the brake booster may not be attached correctly. If the rod detaches, there would be an increase in brake pedal travel/force required to stop the vehicle. This can result in reduced brake performance.

Why it matters

Reduced brake performance can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer inspect the brake booster input rod and electronic brake booster. Depending on the results of the inspection, the dealer may replace the input rod mounting and electronic brake booster, as required.
