High Voltage
Transport Canada recall 2026018 · manufacturer campaign 93EW
21 January 2026
Transport Canada lists: Id 4 2023–2024
What is wrong
On certain vehicles, the cells inside the high-voltage battery module(s) may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the battery could overheat.
Why it matters
A battery that overheats can create a fire risk, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off.
What the dealer will do
To reduce the safety risk, Volkswagen advises that you should set the maximum charge setting of your vehicle at 80%, that you shouldn't use level 3 quick charging and that you should park your vehicle outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed. Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the high-voltage battery module(s).
