Transport Canada recall 2017388

9 August 2017

Transport Canada lists: 6 2012–2013 · X 3 2011–2012

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the housing of the driver's frontal airbag inflator may have been incorrectly welded during manufacturing and could separate from the base plate during an airbag deployment. If the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, metal fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, which could increase the risk of injury.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will replace the driver's frontal airbag. Note: This is an expansion of recall 2016-461. Additional Note: For 6-Series vehicles, only 2012-2013 model year M6 Cabriolet's and 2013 model year M6 Coupe's are involved in this campaign.

Transport Canada recall 2016505

13 October 2016

Transport Canada lists: 5 2010–2011 · 6 2012 · X 5 2007–2011 · X 6 2008–2011

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the wires going to the in-tank fuel pump may not have been crimped correctly. An incorrect crimp could increase the resistance of the circuit which could cause the contact pin to heat and melt the surrounding plastic. This could potentially cause the fuel pump to stop working causing the vehicle to stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Also, in a very rare case, a fuel leak combined with an external ignition source, could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will replace the fuel delivery module.
