Transport Canada recall 2020066 · manufacturer campaign 63 81 20RC

19 February 2020

Transport Canada lists: 6 2014–2019

What is wrong

On certain M6 Gran Coupe models, the center high-mounted stop lamp (third brake light) may not be properly attached. Over time, the lamp could loosen and separate from the vehicle.

Why it matters

A stop lamp that detaches from the vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, it would reduce vehicle visibility for following road users.

What the dealer will do

BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect and secure the high-mounted stop lamp. If the stop lamp has detached from the vehicle and is damaged, it will be replaced.
