What is wrong

On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the vehicle is reversing.

Why it matters

A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the SYNC software.

High Voltage

Transport Canada recall 2023355 · manufacturer campaign 23S33

23 June 2023

Transport Canada lists: Fusion 2019–2020

What is wrong

On certain Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), the high-voltage battery energy control module could become damaged. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the wheels or the control module could overheat.

Why it matters

A sudden loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A battery energy control module that overheats can create the risk of a fire, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off.

What the dealer will do

Ford will notify owners by mail. As an interim repair, Ford will advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to install a fuse block for the battery energy control module. The dealer will also update the BECM software. When the final repairs are available, Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the high-voltage battery. To mitigate the safety risk, Ford advises you not to charge your vehicle until the recall repairs are completed.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the engine block heater could leak coolant. If this happens, the block heater could short circuit when it's plugged in.

Why it matters

A short circuit can create the risk of a fire.

What the dealer will do

To reduce the safety risk, Ford advises you not to use the engine block heater until the recall repairs have been completed. Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the block heater.
