Recalls

Good news: Recall repairs are almost always free. Book with any manufacturer dealer and quote the recall number. Transport Canada’s own wording is that a manufacturer “will almost always make these repairs free of charge”, so being asked to pay for recall work is unusual and worth questioning. Since 2018 the Minister of Transport can order a company to pay for repairs so owners do not bear the cost.

Steering

Transport Canada recall 2020406 · manufacturer campaign MK74

31 August 2020

Transport Canada lists: Pioneer 1000 2016–2020 · Pioneer 700 2017–2020

What is wrong

On certain side-by-side UTVs, a steering joint bolt could interfere with the steering shaft. As a result, the steering joint could wear and cause a loss of steering control.

Why it matters

A loss of steering could create the risk of a crash.

What the dealer will do

Honda will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your UTV to a dealer to inspect the steering joint. Dealers will replace the lower yoke bolt and washer. If damage is found, steering joint B will also be replaced.

Seats And Restraints

Transport Canada recall 2017201 · manufacturer campaign MK52

7 April 2017

Transport Canada lists: Pioneer 700 2017

What is wrong

On certain side-by-side vehicles, the front passenger seat belt buckle bolt may not have been tightened to the correct specification due to a manufacturing error. If the bolt was not tightened, there is a potential for the bolt to back out and result in the front passenger seat belt not restraining the occupant as intended, increasing the risk of injury.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will inspect the seat belt buckle bolt and ensure it is tightened to specification.

Source: Transport Canada — Vehicle Recalls Database; NRCan — Fuel consumption ratings. Data current as of 6 August 2026. Running cost uses Ontario average prices (155 ¢/L, 14.5 ¢/kWh), which are hand-maintained estimates. These are average residential rates. A car’s charging is added on top of what your home already uses, so on a tiered, time-of-use or subsidised tariff it is billed at your top rate rather than this average — which makes the real cost higher, especially in the territories.
