Recalls

Good news: Recall repairs are almost always free. Book with any manufacturer dealer and quote the recall number. Transport Canada’s own wording is that a manufacturer “will almost always make these repairs free of charge”, so being asked to pay for recall work is unusual and worth questioning. Since 2018 the Minister of Transport can order a company to pay for repairs so owners do not bear the cost.

Structure

Transport Canada recall 2011124 · manufacturer campaign R241

18 March 2011

Transport Canada lists: C30 2011 · S40 2011

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the passenger-side support member (in the engine compartment) may have been manufactured incorrectly. As such, the frame member may have developed a crack during the forming process. This could have an effect on the front structure, reducing crash performance of the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of occupant injury during a crash.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will inspect the passenger-side support member. If a crack is found, Volvo will take the vehicle out of service and replace it with a new one of equal specification.

Seats And Restraints

23 November 2010

Transport Canada lists: S40 2009–2011 · S60 2009, 2011 · V50 2009–2011 · XC60 2010–2011

What is wrong

On certain vehicles equipped with power front passenger seats, the "end stops" on the seat frame rails may be missing. If the end stops are missing, the maximum allowable seat travel may be exceeded, resulting in an increased injury risk for out of position occupants in the event of a frontal collision.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will inspect the front seat rails for the presence of an "end stop", and install one if necessary.

Source: Transport Canada — Vehicle Recalls Database; NRCan — Fuel consumption ratings. Data current as of 6 August 2026. Running cost uses Ontario average prices (155 ¢/L, 14.5 ¢/kWh), which are hand-maintained estimates. These are average residential rates. A car’s charging is added on top of what your home already uses, so on a tiered, time-of-use or subsidised tariff it is billed at your top rate rather than this average — which makes the real cost higher, especially in the territories.
