What is wrong

On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger-front airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function.

Why it matters

If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury.

What the dealer will do

Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to have the passenger-front airbag module replaced. Note: The Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected. Additional note: This recall supersedes recall 2018-648.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the tire pressure label located on the B-pillar may not contain the correct front axle tire pressure information. Incorrect tire pressure could lead to tire failure, resulting in loss of vehicle control increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will inspect, and if necessary, replace the tire pressure label.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the bracket for the intermediate bearing of the drive shaft may not have been welded correctly during assembly. The retaining function of the bracket may be compromised, potentially causing it to become loose. In the event of a frontal crash the bracket may become loose and the drive shaft could damage the fuel system, allowing a fuel leak to occur. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will fix the bracket of the intermediate bearing of the drive shaft with three additional rivets.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles the lower seat belt anchorage bolts for the rear bench seat may not have been torqued to specification during assembly. This could cause the seat belts to fail to adequately restrain occupants in a crash, increasing the risk of injury and/or damage to property.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will inspect the bolt torque of the seat belt anchorages, and tighten as necessary.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the paint used on the body structure may contain a defect that could allow the top layer to separate. In the event of a crash, this could allow the windows to peel away from the vehicles due to insufficient adhesion in between the layers of paint, increasing the risk of injury.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will renew the paintwork of the affected areas.
