On certain vehicles, the rear frame may be missing reinforcements. As a result, the frame could become damaged and cause a change vehicle stability. This problem could also cause the mounting points for the third-row seats to fail in a crash.

What is wrong

In certain conditions, the connection between the between fuse and fuse mount for the blower motor could overheat.

Why it matters

A fuse and wiring that overheats could create the risk of a fire.

What the dealer will do

Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace and relocate the blower motor fuse and its wiring. To reduce the safety risk, Mercedes-Benz recommends that you should only operate the blower in manual mode, and not use either the highest or lowest temperature settings until the recall repairs have been completed.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles equipped with front swivel-seats, the wiring harness under the seat may not be properly secured. As a result, the airbag wires could be damaged when the seat is moved. If this happens, the side airbag may not work properly in a crash. This problem could also cause the side airbag to deploy suddenly without a crash. Note: If the wiring to the side airbag is damaged, the SRS light will stay on in the instrument cluster.

Why it matters

An airbag that does not work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the power steering return hoses may detach at their connection points. If this happens, power steering fluid can leak. This would result in a loss of power steering assist and power steering fluid could leak onto the road. Note: This is an expansion of Mercedes-Benz Recall 4695079 (Transport Canada Recall No. 2020-517).

Why it matters

A loss of power steering assist may result in a sudden increase in steering effort, especially at low speeds. This could increase the risk of a crash. A power steering fluid leak could create a road hazard.

On certain vehicles, the front and rear brake hoses may have been damaged during production. Over time, this could cause the hoses to leak brake fluid. If this happens, brake performance could be reduced and there could be a loss of stability when braking. Note: This problem could cause the brake pedal to 'feel soft' or cause the low brake fluid light to turn on. If you experience either of these symptoms, you should park your vehicle and contact your local Mercedes-Benz dealer.
