Recalls

Good news: Recall repairs are almost always free. Book with any manufacturer dealer and quote the recall number. Transport Canada’s own wording is that a manufacturer “will almost always make these repairs free of charge”, so being asked to pay for recall work is unusual and worth questioning. Since 2018 the Minister of Transport can order a company to pay for repairs so owners do not bear the cost.

Seats And Restraints

Transport Canada recall 2011233

20 June 2011

Transport Canada lists: Sprinter 2011

What is wrong

On certain Sprinter 2500 vehicles, the bench-type seats (for rear occupants) may have been equipped with improperly manufactured ISOFIX anchorage brackets for child restraints. Failure of the child restraint anchorage to restrain the occupant as intended would increase the risk of personal injuries during a crash.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the seat bench assembly.

Seats And Restraints

Transport Canada recall 2011156

13 April 2011

Transport Canada lists: Sprinter 2010–2011

What is wrong

Certain vehicles, with the optional three-seat bench in the second seating row, may have been equipped with seatbelts that were certified to European standards, but fail to comply with Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 209 - Seat Belt Assemblies. Due to incorrect load limiter mounting, the assembly loop is unable to withstand the forces specified by the Standard. Failure of the seatbelt to restrain the seat occupant as intended would increase the risk of personal injury during a crash.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the seatbelt assemblies.

16 December 2010

Transport Canada lists: Sprinter 2010–2011

What is wrong

On certain vehicles equipped with an optional emergency exit window, the adhesive bond between the glass and the hinge on the side of the window may loosen, which could cause the glass to separate from the vehicle. A window separating from the vehicle could strike another vehicle or a stationary object, causing property damage and/or personal injury.

What the dealer will do

Dealers will replace the affected window.

Source: Transport Canada — Vehicle Recalls Database; NRCan — Fuel consumption ratings. Data current as of 6 August 2026. Running cost uses Ontario average prices (155 ¢/L, 14.5 ¢/kWh), which are hand-maintained estimates. These are average residential rates. A car’s charging is added on top of what your home already uses, so on a tiered, time-of-use or subsidised tariff it is billed at your top rate rather than this average — which makes the real cost higher, especially in the territories.
